Celotex Insulation Board

Celotex is the UK market leader in high-performance PIR insulation solutions, one of the fastest-growing insulation categories in the UK. With a history of continuous product innovation and technical progression, insulation boards from Celotex are ever-evolving in order to provide the best insulation performance possible. Celotex insulation offers a wide range of insulation boards to choose from, for both commercial and domestic sectors, and Celotex insulation helps to ensure your building is well insulated, ensuring minimal heat loss and maximum efficiency in terms of energy use.

With over 90 years of experience in manufacturing high quality and high performing insulation boards, Celotex focuses on not only developing products that are well insulating but also focus on meeting current and future building regulations, as well as other carbon reduction programmes. Celotex PIR boards are designed to be one of the thinnest insulation boards on the market, whilst still achieving premium levels of energy efficiency and U values.

General-purpose insulation boards

Celotex provides a range of general-purpose insulation boards that can be used in masonry walls, pitched roofs, flat roofs and more. Choose TB4000 for 12mm – 40mm thickness, GA4000 for 50mm – 100mm thickness or XR4000 for 110mm – 200mm thick general purpose insulation boards.

Fire-resistant insulation boards

Celotex FR5000 is a premium performance PIR insulation board, which offers enhanced thermal performance, class 0 fire performance, and super low emissivity values due to the textured aluminium foil facings. It can be used in pitched roofs, walls and floors, and is available in a broad range of thicknesses to suit your project.

Partial fill cavity wall insulation boards

CW3000, previously known as CW400, is Celotex insulation board that has been specifically designed for partial fill cavity wall applications. CW3000 has been manufactured from rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) using a blowing agent with zero ozone depletion potential, and low global warming potential.

Underfloor heating insulation boards

Celotex has developed a selection of underfloor heating insulation boards. FI5000 is a premium performance flooring insulation board that is suitable for concrete, slab, beam and block flooring, as well as suspended timber. FF4000 is a lightweight and versatile alternative, with increased strength to provide better stability and resistance to site traffic, and a foam structure to allow better pipe clip retention.

Celotex FAQs

What is Celotex made from?

Celotex boards are manufactured from polyisocyanurate (PIR), which is a thermoset plastic in the form of foam. Celotex boards are often PIR boards with foil facings to improve insulation levels. Celotex boards are made using a lamination process, where aluminium foil facings are flued together in a laminator, with an added blowing agent which causes the adhesive to expand into foam. The product is then cut into boards.

Is Celotex fireproof?

The Celotex FR5000 is a new range of Celotex PIR board that has been developed specifically for fire resistance, making it fireproof and has a fire rating of 0, but other ranges of Celotex are not specifically fireproof. However, compared with PUR, PIR foam products have increased fire performance and reduced combustibility, meaning it will not burn for as long.

Celotex U-values

U-values, measure how well a material performs as an insulator. The U value of a product varies widely depending on where the product is used, the materials around the Celotex insulation and more, for example, the Celotex 50mm U-value will vary according to the type of Celotex board being used, and where it is installed. Therefore, we have used the Celotex R-value in our Celotex comparison chart, because the R-value denotes the resistance to heat flow. For more information on Celotex R values click here

How to cut Celotex

Celotex can be cut with a hand saw, but it is important to wear protective clothing, particularly goggles or safety glasses as dust and particles are produced when cutting Celotex insulation.

How to install Celotex installation boards

There are a number of different Celotex installation methods, each one varies depending on the product you are installing, and the location in which you are installing it. Celotex can be installed between rafters in pitched roofs, fixing Celotex to ceilings in flat roofs, cavity walls, floors and more. Each Celotex product will be provided with an installation guide detailing how to fit Celotex, which can also be found as a PDF brochure on each of our product pages.
