Learn moreBy accommodating diverse moisture levels and regulating humidity within building components, Tyvek® AirGuard® Smart makes a cutting-edge air and vapour layer that safeguards structures against environmental harm. It includes a polymeric coating and allows for greater energy efficiency, as well as improved interior comfort.
With a unique design, this layer facilitates quicker removal of embedded humidity in new construction elements and prevents the intrusion of humidity from living spaces into the structure. By doing this, the likelihood of costly damage caused by dampness and mould is reduced.
Created for use in both new build and refurbishment projects, this product suits installation in conventional dry-lining applications from the inside, as well as the outside when commencing renovation work.
Question:
Hi, is this product suitable for use on the external wall of a kitchen, on the warm side of insulation like sisal wool or wood fibre board? The next layer inwards would be plasterboard, some areas of which would be tiled or have kitchen cabinets mounted on.
Answer:
The Tyvek® AirGuard® Smart Air and Vapour Control Layer by DuPont is indeed designed for such applications. It can be installed on the warm side of insulation, and it is suitable for both new build and refurbishment projects. It's designed to provide an air and vapour control layer that adapts to various moisture conditions, which can be particularly beneficial in areas like a kitchen where moisture levels can vary significantly. It also helps to improve the durability, health, and longevity of buildings, and enhances interior comfort. However, please note that the product is not designed to bear any load, so it should not directly support kitchen cabinets or other heavy items. These should be mounted directly onto the structural elements of the wall. Before proceeding with your installation, it's recommended to follow the fitting instructions provided by the manufacturer to ensure optimal performance and compliance with building regulations. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.
Question:
is this product self adhesive?
Answer:
The DuPont Tyvek® AirGuard® Smart Air and Vapour Control Layer is not self-adhesive. It needs to be installed using suitable adhesive or mechanical fixings. For detailed instructions on how to fit this product, you can refer to the Fitting Instructions available on our website.
Question:
Hi, do you sell this by the metre? I'm looking for 7m (to order with the same amount of Tyvek Supro Breather Membrane)
Answer:
I'm sorry, but the DuPont Tyvek® AirGuard® Smart Air and Vapour Control Layer is only available in a roll size of 75m2 (1.5m x 50m). It's not currently sold by the metre. If you need a smaller size, it might be worth considering other products in our insulation fixings & accessories category. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact our customer service team.
Question:
Is this suitable to lay underneath insulation in attic, renovating 1960's house with poor loft insulation. Is it a vapour barrier or vapour control item? Also what is the advantage of control vs barrier in a loft?
Answer:
A vapour barrier and a vapour control layer are essentially the same thing, their main purpose is to be used as an airtight layer on the warm side of the roof to minimise the risk of condensation, they will not much provide much in the way of thermal benefit so is best combined with insulation to acheive effect.
