Description

ThermScreed is a lightweight insulating screed designed to improve thermal performance beneath finished flooring systems. Combining ultra-lightweight pumice and perlite aggregates with a modified cement binder, it creates a strong insulating screed underlay suitable for residential and commercial projects. The natural volcanic pumice aggregate offers excellent thermal and acoustic insulation properties, making ThermScreed an eco-conscious solution for upgrading existing floors.

Suitable for bonded or floating screed applications, it's easy to mix and apply, making it well suited for both DIY and professional use. And once installed, it can be finished with a self-levelling screed or flooring compound before laying tiles, wood, carpet or other floor coverings.

Coverage

  • Approx. 3.3m2 coverage at 10mm depth.

Application

  • Mix each 20kg bag of ProofTherm Floor Screed with 7-8 litres of water for dry screed applications or 13-14 litres for wet pumped installation. Add most of the water first, then mix using a slow-speed electric mixer until a thick, creamy consistency is achieved. Allow the mixture to rest briefly before a final mix, taking care not to overmix and damage the insulating aggregates.
  • Before application, ensure the surface is clean, stable and free from dust, grease or loose material. An acrylic primer is recommended to improve adhesion and control dust. The screed can be applied manually or pumped at depths between 20mm and 100mm, using depth guides for an even finish. Designed as an insulating underlay or levelling screed, it should be topped with a suitable self-levelling or high-strength wearing surface before final floor finishes are installed.
  • Depending on temperature and humidity, a 20mm application will take 8 hours to dry.
