SuperFOIL SFTV is the ultimate all-round building membrane for roofs, walls and floors. Water & vapour proof SFTV is also a foil radiant barrier that will reduce solar gain in summer and improve insulation in winter. SFTV's reflective properties add to the overall uValue of the building fabric. To achieve the maximum energy performance in new build and retrofit projects, SFTV makes an ideal 'airtight' layer suitable for the entire building envelope.

Question:
Will this product act as a thermal insulate if installed onto a concrete floor slab then a self level screed with electric floor heat cables on top, then porcelain tiles on top?
Answer:
This product is designed to be used as an airtight reflective barrier so not the best option, better to go for the following - https://www.insulationsuperstore.co.uk/product/superfoil-sfuf-underfloor-foil-insulation-15m-x-8m-roll-12m2.html - as is only 6mm thick.
Question:
What is the thickness of the foil & does it easily tear?
Answer:
The product is roughly 1mm thick and special care should be taken to avoid any perforations as it needs to be sealed to form an airtight layer.
Question:
Can this be used on the internal face of an existing block work cavity wall, with insulation between the battens over it?
Answer:
Provided this is installed correctly on the warm side of any property, it can be installed in either roofs, walls or floors. Insulation would need to be behind it if you were facing outwards from inside.
Question:
Can this product be used under a ceramic tiled floor
Answer:
The product in question is multi-purpose so can be installed in flooring applications provided it is fitted correctly.
Question:
Is this suitable for going on top of floor boards before putting underlay and carpet down? I have a void under my house and my carpet fitter suggested a thermal liner to help stop drafts?
Answer:
The product in question can be used in floor applications but is always intended to go on the 'warm' side of a house so would better to go for the SFUF - https://www.insulationsuperstore.co.uk/product/superfoil-sfuf-underfloor-foil-insulation-15m-x-8m-roll-12m2.html
Question:
What tape should be used with SuperFOIL SFTV?
Answer:
To ensure a consistant air-tight seal, 100mm wide foil tape should be used. We recommend SuperFOIL Superior Tape for it's high strength and enhanced adhesive which allows it to be used even in cold weather.
Question:
What size Staples do I need to fix SuperFOIL SFTV?
Answer:
We recommend using a minimum 14mm staples for use with SuperFOIL SFTV. The staples should be adequate size to hold the SuperFOIL in place until your battens are fitted forming the permanent fixing.
Question:
What size Battens should I use with SuperFOIL SFTV?
Answer:
As SuperFOIL SFTV is a thermal vapour barrier membrane battens are not required. However your thermal performance will be improved if you provide a clear cavity to one or both sides of the SFTV.
