Find out moreThe SuperFOIL SFTV serves as a comprehensive building membrane for the construction of roofs, walls, and floors. It offers both water and vapour resistance and also acts as a foil radiant barrier to minimise solar heat gain during summer and maximise insulation in winter.
Additionally, the reflective properties of SFTV boost the overall uValue of the building structure. For optimum energy efficiency and performance in both new constructions and retrofit projects, SFTV is an excellent choice as it functions as an 'airtight' layer, suited to the entire building envelope.
Moreover, SFTV's waterproof and vapour-proof features, along with its radiant barrier function, help prevent the growth of mould and dampness. It also enhances the thermal resistance of the building structure, ensuring maximum energy performance.
With two air gaps, this product offers a thermal insulation R-value of 0.95 R for roofs, 1.42 R for walls and 2.8 R for floors.
Question:
My fitted wardrobe is built against an outside wall as a consequence the clothes are icy cold when they come out of the wardrobe and they feel ever so slightly damp. Would this foil be of any benefit if I line the back of the wardrobe with it? There’s no way the wardrobe can be dismantled.
Answer:
The SuperFOIL SFTV Thermal Vapour Barrier could potentially help with your issue. The SFTV is designed to be water, vapour-proof, and airtight, which could help reduce the dampness you're experiencing. Additionally, it acts as a radiant barrier that improves insulation, so it might help to keep your clothes warmer. However, for it to work effectively, it needs to be correctly installed as part of the building envelope and ideally should be combined with an air gap. Simply lining the back of your wardrobe might not provide the full benefits. If feasible, you could consider applying the SuperFOIL to the outside wall behind the wardrobe, but this would likely require some construction work. For more detailed information, you can check out the Product Brochure and the Declaration of Performance. If you're unsure about the best course of action, it would be worth getting advice from a local builder or insulation expert to make sure you're taking the most effective steps to solve the issue.
