Designed to cater to various construction needs, Novia's range of Vapour Control Layer (VCL) membranes offer tailored solutions for an array of applications.

This Novia VC2 laminate is a technologically advanced and reinforced membrane that combines an airtight vapour check with a specially engineered Sd value, perfect for timber-framed dwellings in insulated floors, roofs and walls. It also acts as a reliable air-leakage barrier, effectively preventing energy losses caused by unwanted convection flows.

To ensure complete barrier integrity throughout this product's lifespan, using the compatible Novia butyl and foil sealing tapes is highly recommended. By combining this Novia VC2 laminate with Novia's breather membranes, you will achieve an airtight and vapour-resistant system.

Installation

  • When installing VCLs in floor, roof or wall insulated frame applications, it is crucial to position them on the warm side, typically the interior. For optimal results, pair them with Novia's external breather membranes, situated on the cold side, or exterior.
  • To unlock the full potential of Novia's membranes, correct installation is key, which includes the use of their specialised tapes as part of a comprehensive system. Novia's VCL products require a two-tape sealing approach, ensuring optimum performance and desired building outcomes. Beware of condensation issues caused by poorly installed membranes or the use of incorrect tapes.
  • To achieve a flawless installation, it is essential to fully seal all Novia VCL products to the structure. Use Novia's double-sided butyl tape in conjunction with either their foil or BOPP lap tapes for a professional finish. Wider tapes provide stronger seals and make installation easier, allowing for some margin of error. Choose the tape width that best suits your specific application and budget. For standard VCL installation, Novia recommends the 30mm wide butyl tape and the 60mm Metallised BOPP tape.
