Baumit StarContact is a versatile contact mortar that can serve as both an adhesive for façade insulation, as well as a basecoat for Baumit insulation boards. With dual-purpose qualities, the ready-to-use dry adhesive also requires minimal preparation and boasts excellent bonding strength and water resistance. This allows for ultimate flexibility which is a great asset alongside crack resistance.
This product is suited to application over a wide range of prepared mineral surfaces, including mineral renders, concrete, lime and cement render, masonry, and even stable paint or resin-based renders with proper preparation.
For a successful application, it is important to prepare surfaces. They should be clean and dry, as well as protected from harsh weather. After application, the product should be given a minimum of 24 hours to dry before any fixings are added to adhered insulation boards. Alternatively, it can be left to cure for up to three days before being coated again.
To use Baumit StarContact, add it to a container of clean water and mix. It should have a smooth, creamy consistency. Allow it to sit for five minutes before giving it a final mix, then apply it immediately as it has a maximum 90 minutes working time. When used as an adhesive, it should cover approximately 4.5-5.5 kilograms per m², while coverage as a basecoat is 4-5 kilograms per m².
