With the government’s Green Homes Grant putting the spotlight on all things insultation, we wanted to give you a chance to ask the experts about the products and techniques you might need to get to grips with.

That’s why, on Wednesday 18th November at 12.45pm, we’re taking part in a Facebook Live panel on SuperFOIL’s Facebook page that will give all of our combined followers the chance to put their questions to three industry experts. Whether you’re a tradesperson with a technical question, or a homeowner getting to grips with your insulation issues, our panel will be on hand to give you the insider info.

Meet the experts:

You’ll be able to get your insulation answers from our own Trade Manager Rob Martin, as well as from SuperFOIL’s Managing Director Will Bown and National Sales Manager Chad Bragg.

Rob has been our Trade Manager for two years, and is a particular expert on tapered roof schemes and PIR. He’s on hand to advise homeowners on what to consider if they want to switch from using PIR, and the advantages of using multifoil insulation over a typical alternatives like Celotex. He commented: “I think a lot of people aren’t certain of the impact something like loft insulation can have on their home, but it really is an easy and cost-effective way to make a home nice and cosy, with not much disruption.”

Will Bown, SuperFOIL’s Managing Director, is an expert in value-engineering residential insulation to achieve building regulations. He’s equally qualified to advise homeowners and tradespeople on the right solution for them, and commented: “Tradespeople and DIYers can both take steps to make their homes greener. Homeowners can fit LED lighting, radiator insulation kits and draught excluders to make their homes more environmentally friendly: but roofing insulation is the biggest step people can take. It doesn’t matter how efficient a heating system is if that heat is escaping via the roof!”

Chad has been in his role with SuperFOIL for three years and prides himself on being able to help people find the right insulation for their particular needs. Like Rob, he’s a big advocate of loft insulation, saying: “Most houses are drastically under-insulated, and the roof is where you lose most of the heat. I expect we’ll have some questions from homeowners about how easily they can fit their own SuperFOIL insulation – as well as about the price – and I’m looking forward to being able to help them out.”

How to get involved:

You don’t have to wait for 18th November to get involved: we’re already taking your questions via private message on the Insulation Superstore Facebook Page. Drop us a message and we’ll make sure it gets passed to the panel ahead of the day so that your question will be answered as part of the live stream.

Once we go live, you can join in with the discussion by commenting on the video as it goes out – our panel will be able to see your questions in real-time, and will work their way through them as they’re received.

You’ll be able to catch up on the panel’s discussion afterwards if you can’t drop by on the day, and we’ll be sharing the best questions and answers right here a few days later as well – so there are lots of ways to get involved.

Why should I join in?

With the weather getting colder and more of us at home more of the time, it’s a great time to invest in properly insulating your home. What’s more, the government has launched its Green Homes Grant, which means that homeowners and landlords in England can get up to £5,000 towards the cost of energy-saving measures, including insulation.

The government estimates that there are more than 600,000 households that could qualify for the scheme, which could help them save up to £600 a year on energy bills as well as helping to cut emissions, so it’s good news for the environment too.

We’re supporting the new scheme alongside the Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) who, in partnership with Trustmark, is helping to create a reliable and high-quality supply chain. You’ll find a full range of solutions on our dedicated e-commerce sites, including a range of SuperFOIL products on our Insulation Superstore, so we can connect you to the products you need to keep your home warm and your bills down this winter.
