Find out moreThis 100mm thick Knauf Loft Roll 44 is a flexible low density wool quilt designed for the thermal insulation of pitched roofs at ceiling level and suspended timber floors. A cost-effective, energy-saving product, it's resilient, lightweight and non-combustible.
This Knauf Loft Roll is also incredibly versatile, with each 1140mm wide roll coming partially perforated, allowing you to produce two 570mm wide rolls or three 380mm wide rolls.
What's more, the Loft Roll 44 range has an impressive thermal conductivity of 0.044W/mK and a fire rating of Euroclass A1 to BS EN 13501-1. The rolls are highly sustainable and environmentally friendly, with Zero Ozone Depletion Potential and Zero Global Warming Potential. They offer negligible resistance water vapour passage.
This Knauf Loft Roll 44 is rot proof, odourless and non-hygroscopic. It does not allow the proliferation of vermin and will not encourage the growth of mould, bacteria or fungi.
Question:
1/ What is the thermal difference between Knauf Thermal (Loft) insulation roll (100mm thick) and Knauf Insulation Acoustic Roll APR (100mm thick) please? 2/ Are there any other material differences between the two products, please (apart from size)? 3/ Being "low density", would the 100mm Knauf Thermal (Loft) insulation compress down to 65mm fairly easily, please? (Am insulating a shed with 65mm depth joists which then covered internally with OSB3 cladding).
Answer:
1/ The thermal performance of insulation is determined by its thermal resistance and thermal conductivity. For the Knauf Loft Roll 44 100mm Insulation, the thermal resistance is 2.25 m²K/W and thermal conductivity is 0.044 W/mK. Unfortunately, I don't have the exact specifications for the Knauf Insulation Acoustic Roll APR 100mm at hand. I suggest you refer to its product page for accurate information. 2/ As for the material differences, the Knauf Loft Roll 44 100mm Insulation is made from glass mineral wool. I don't have the specific details for the Knauf Insulation Acoustic Roll APR 100mm, but it might be made of a different material or processed differently to enhance its acoustic insulation properties. 3/ The Knauf Loft Roll 44 100mm Insulation is a flexible low-density product, but it's designed to maintain its thickness for optimal insulation properties. Compressing it to 65mm might affect its performance. For a shed with 65mm depth joists, you might want to consider an insulation product specifically designed for that thickness. For more details on how to install the Knauf Loft Roll 44 100mm Insulation, you can refer to the fitting instructions available here: Fitting Instructions 1, Fitting Instructions 2, Fitting Instructions 3, Fitting Instructions 4.
Question:
What u-value would 200mm of this product give?
Answer:
Insulation on its own cannot provide a uValue, only a level of thermal resistance and thermal conductivity - a uValue is the overall thermal perfomance of an entire structure or property.
Question:
What is the total area covered by this pack?
Answer:
This pack contains 1 roll that covers 13.89m2.
Question:
What is the diameter of these rolls
Answer:
The sizes of the rolls around roughly 0.6m in diameter.
