This intumescent expansion joint seal, from the industry-leading company ROCKWOOL, offers a versatile, easy-to-use, retrofit solution that acts as a highly effective firestop. Suitable for construction joints up to 75mm thick in walls and floors, it has been extensively tested to BS476: Part 20 and proven to provide up to four hours of fire protection.
This expansion joint seal has been designed to be maintenance-free and compressible, with a ROCKWOOL core covered on each side by a shrink-wrapped graphite-based intumescent polymer. You can simply compress the length needed by hand and insert it into the joint without requiring any intumescent sealant or adhesive.
In the event of a fire, this ROCKWOOL expansion joint seal features an innovative composition that will cause it to expand and create a hard char, which will prevent the passage of flames or smoke through the joint. It is water-resistant and perfect for use with curtain wall interfaces, structural and expansion joints and blockwork cavities. When installed according to the manufacturer's instructions, this expertly developed expansion joint seal delivers unbeatable fire protection.
