How should I calculate the correct size BodenWärme heating kit?

Heating mats cannot be shortened or cut to size, so you need to figure out the kit you need. Once your floor space area is calculated in metres squared (m²), subtract the space occupied by fixed furniture with less than 50mm clearance from the floor. This limits hot spots. Next, take away an extra 10% to account for spacing between the mats and around the perimeter of the room. The number you end up with is the m² kit size you need. Areas greater than 24m² should be split into different zones with various thermostats as a single thermostat cannot control any more than this.
