Baumit OpenContact is a breathable insulation and dual-purpose base coat render and dry powder adhesive. It has been designed to support the Baumit OpenSystem EWI system. This product is a fibre-reinforced adhesive for facade insulation boards and thin basecoat for façade insulation boarding.
The Baumit OpenSystem EWI system is an external wall insulation product family that helps create ideal living conditions. It balances insulation with breathability, weather resistance with permeability and can be used on new builds and renovation projects. Baumit OpenContact should be applied over masonry or rendered surfaces to bond Baumit OpenTherm 031. Surfaces can then be coated with Baumit StarTex and finished as required.

Baumit OpenContact is designed for use as part of the Baumit OpenSystem EWI system. It acts as both an adhesive and basecoat and can be applied directly onto prepared masonry or mineral exterior surfaces. It has a 90 minute working time and requires little preparation.
Baumit OpenContact should be mixed in a suitable container with clean water and mixed steadily until it has reached a creamy consistency. It should then be left for 5 minutes and then mixed again before application. Coverage is approximately 4-5kg/m2 when used as insulation adhesive and 4-5kg/m2 when used as basecoat.
