Passive House

PassivHaus, or Passive House, is a German-born voluntary home-building standard that has spread across the world thanks to its ramifications for the environment and for bill payers. The standard focusses on airtightness and high levels of insulation to create a home as close to carbon neutral as possible, reducing the running costs of the building.

Manufacturers have been keen to get on board with PassivHaus since the trend started and the likes of VELUX and FAKRO have gone on to develop PassivHaus certified windows. Both FAKRO and VELUX PassivHaus windows have certification for their quad-glazed windows as well as insulated flashings to match and to bolster the energy efficiency of the windows.

In off-center and centre-pivot styles, PassivHaus windows won’t impact on a building’s architectural style internally or externally. FAKRO PassivHaus windows offer a sustainable pine wood manufacture, perfect for eco-homes, and VELUX offers solar-powered PassivHaus windows controlled by a remote control pad from anywhere in the building.

PassivHaus windows are a great addition to any building, if you’re unsure which window fits your requirements or is best for your project then please contact us on 01752 692 206 for further advice and to answer any of your questions.
